SWIMMING & BEACHES
CRESCENT BEACH & BOARDWALK - Algoma's award-winning
boardwalk along the Lake Michigan shore connects with
the Algoma Visitor Center and Algoma Marina. The
boardwalk is handicapped accessible and runs along the
constantly groomed public beach offering a wonderful
opportunity to enjoy the spectacular sights and sounds
of Lake Michigan, relax in the sun, build sandcastles,
collect rocks, play volleyball on the public sa nd
courts, picnic, and frolic in the waves.
ALGOMA LIGHTHOUSE - Stroll two blocks down to the
beachfront from Hotel Stebbins and view this beautiful
sight for yourself. Algoma's lighthouse, which was built
in the 1800's, is one of the most photographed scenes in
the area. The lighthouse is still in operation and runs
unmanned 24 hours/day and has a very neat foghorn that
goes on automatically when needed.
